FAQ

What is power cord composed of ?

The structure of power cord is not very complicated, it is mainly composed of metal conductor and insulation ourter jacket. Common metal conductors are copper which have good ductility and conductivity. As for insulation cover, the application of its material is very wide, common materials include:

  • Polyvinyl chloride(PVC):rated temperature 60°C
  • Heat-resistant PVC:rated temperature 75°C、80°C、90°C、105°C
  • Polyethylene(PE):rated temperature 75°C
  • Irradiated polyethylene(XL PE):rated temperature 90°C、105°C
  • Silicone rubber(SLICON):rated temperature 180°C

How to choose plug and power cord ?

Generally, different regions have different safety standards. As a result, you have to confirm where your product will be used when choosing plug. At present, the mainstream power cord certification bodies are : UL (U.S.A), CSA (CANADA), ENEC(EUROPE),BSI (UK), SAA(AUSTRIALIA), PSE(JAPAN), CCC(CHINA), BSMI(TAIWAN).

In addition to the area of use, you also need to pay attention to the environment in which the power cord is used, such as humidity, temperature, long-term sunshine, easy contact with oil or corrosive substances... etc.

Finally, you also need to know how much power your product needs to drive the work, matching the rated voltage of each region, so that you can find a suitable power cord.

How to judge whether the power cord can be used safely ?

First, you can check whether the power cord has the safety certificate of eligibility. To obtain the certificate, the product needs to pass the strict physical and chemical tests of the safety standard. Only the product pass the tests can obtain the certificate.
Next, you can check the appearance of the power cord, focusing on three parts:

  • MARK:Regardless of the plug or the wire, a clear mark of the approvals are required. This is also the most direct way to judge whether the power cord meets safety standards.
  • METAL:The metal in the power cord need to show metallic luster. If it is black or foggy, it is very likely that the metal has been oxidized and cannot be used.
  • INSULATION:It can be judged based on smooth, tight surface, no roughness, and toughness when bending.

How to distinguish AC power cord in the application of electrical products ?

Power cord plays a vital role, although it is just an accessory for these machines and equipment. If the power cord is of poor quality, damaged or broken, it might cause that the electrical equipment cannot be used. Worst of all, electrical leakage will hurt people and short circuit might cause fire. Therefore, it is very important to choose an excellent and quality-guaranteed power cord.

What need to notice when using power cord?
  • Ensure the power cord has safety approvals.
  • Keep the area around the power cord dry, free of heat source, and free of conductive and flammable materials.
  • Keep the power cord stretched and flat.
  • Avoid using multiple high-power electrical products in the same socket at the same time.
  • If you feel very hot when touching the plug or wire, turn off the power immediately, unplug and stop using the electrical product.

What international regulations does Lian Dung pass ?

We are certified by ISO 14001 environmental regulations, we also strictly control the raw materials and components to comply with RoHS 2.0, REACH regulatory standards to ensure the safety of consumers to use our products.

In addition to environmental protection, we also support the Human Rights Movement and abide by the "conflict minerals" regulation to ensure that suppliers do not use minerals such as gold ( Au), tantalum (Ta), tungsten (W), cobalt (Co), tin (Sn), which mined in conflict areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo or obtained through illegal smuggling.

Lian Dung also cares about working environment and rights of employees very much, so we pass the RBA standard (Responsible Business Alliance, formerly known as EICC); provide employees with a good and safe working environment, maintain communication between cadres and employees, and ensure that employees can obtain respect and fair treatment. We firmly believe that employees are the company's most important asset and the key to corporate development and sustainable operation. Therefore, we strictly abide by the RBA code of conduct.

What are the types of power cords?

Power cords can be categorized into various types based on different classification standards. The most common way to classify power cables is into AC power cords and DC power cords. The primary difference between them is that AC power cords are used to transmit alternating current (AC), while DC power cords are used to transmit direct current (DC). Alternating current refers to the current whose direction and strength change over time, while direct current refers to the current whose direction and strength remain constant.

AC power cords are widely used in various electrical devices in our daily lives. They can be further classified based on their usage, structure, and design into "Detachable" and "Non-detachable" or into "two-core power cords" and "three-core power cords." Here are some common types of power cords:

  • Detachable: These have plugs at both ends, referred to as male and female plugs respectively. Typically, the male plug connects to the socket on the power output device, such as an outlet in a building, while the female plug connects to the power input socket on devices like household appliances or computers. The female plug usually needs to comply with the IEC60320 standard.
  • Non-Detachable: These have a plug at one end only, used to connect to the socket on the power output device. The other end of the cable is directly fixed to the terminal block of the electrical equipment.
  • Two-Core Power Cables: These include two conductors: the live wire and the neutral wire. Common in household power cables, these do not have a earth wire and therefore do not provide grounding protection.
  • Three-Core Power Cables: These include three conductors: the live wire, the neutral wire, and the earth wire. In addition to providing power, the earth wire offers safety protection to prevent the risk of electric shock in case of leakage or short circuits. These are commonly used in equipment requiring higher safety standards or in industrial environments.

DC power cables are used in various electronic products and some charging devices.

How to choose a power cord?

You can choose the appropriate power cord based on the following points:

  • Plug Type: Different devices and countries have various plug types. Confirm the type of plug you need and verify that the power cord's plug is compatible with your device and socket.
  • Safety Certification: Different types of power cords must individually obtain safety certifications applicable in their respective countries, such as UL for the U.S., VDE for Europe, BSI for the UK, SAA for Australia, CCC for China, PSE for Japan, and BSMI for Taiwan. A simple way to check is to look for certification marks on the plug, indicating that the product meets the necessary standards. Choose power cords with valid certifications to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Rating: Select a power cord with appropriate current and voltage ratings. Ensure the power cord's rated current and voltage match the requirements of your device.
  • Durability: Consider the application environment of the power cord and choose the right material and design, such as waterproof or oil-resistant features. Ensure it is durable and suitable for everyday use.
  • Wire Quality: High-quality power cords offer better power transmission and reduce energy loss. Also, select a cord with the appropriate wire gauge to improve safety.
  • Length: Choose a power cord with a suitable length based on the device's location to avoid inconvenience caused by cords that are too long or too short.
